What makes a high quality backlink?
A high quality backlink comes from a relevant site with measured authority, organic search traffic from your market and a clean outgoing link profile, placed in content that fits your page. Get all of them right and every backlink you pay for pulls its weight. Scout, our backlink bot, checks authority, traffic and spam on independent SEO data before a site reaches you.
Numbers or it didn’t happen.
What a full quality check gets you
Authority is one number; quality is several checks together.
- Authority measured on the day, and priced on what the site has.
- A search audience that is still there, not only a high score.
- Traffic from the countries you sell in.
- Neighbors you’re happy to have next to your brand.
Real means it passes every gate, not just one
Send three sites through authority, traffic in your market and spam. One gets through; the other two keep their reasons.
Three gates

- clinictech.example passes all three gates and is shortlisted.
- healthbuzz.example stops at traffic: its top traffic countries don’t include your market.
- wellnessdaily.example stops at spam: it links out to casino and pharmacy pages across the site.

A six-point checklist for high quality backlinks
Run any site through these six checks before you pay. Together they make up the “real” promise of The LabsMedia Method, our link building process.
Step 1: The readers are your buyers
Quality starts with relevance. A strong site in the wrong niche is still the wrong site. What makes a backlink relevant covers the five questions to ask.
Step 2: Authority you measured yourself
Check the DR yourself on the day, inside a range that fits your site. How to check domain rating takes a few minutes per site.
Step 3: Organic search traffic in your market
Your country should be one of the site’s top traffic countries. How to check if website traffic is real shows where to look.
Step 4: A broad base of keywords
Traffic spread across many keywords is traffic that lasts. Traffic from one viral post or brand searches can vanish next month.
Step 5: A clean outgoing link profile
Look at who the site links out to across all its pages. Casino, betting, adult and pharmacy pages are the clearest warning signs. How to spot spammy link sites goes further.
Step 6: A placement that fits your page
An article on your topic, an anchor that describes your page, and a backlink you can see on the live page. The placement matters as much as the site.

High quality backlinks: common questions
What is a high quality backlink?
A high quality backlink comes from a site your buyers read, with authority you have checked, organic search traffic from your market and a clean record of who it links out to. It sits in content about your topic, with an anchor that describes your page. Get all of those right and the backlink earns its price.
What makes a backlink low quality?
A backlink is low quality when the site is off-topic for your buyers, when its authority or traffic is inflated or comes from the wrong market, when it links out to casino, adult or betting pages, or when the backlink sits in content that has nothing to do with your page. Any one of these drags its value down.
How many high quality backlinks do I need?
There is no fixed number. Compare your page with the pages ranking above it for your keyword: the gap in relevant referring domains is a better guide than any rule of thumb. A smaller number of relevant backlinks from real sites usually does more than a large batch of weak ones.
Are guest posts or link insertions higher quality?
Neither format is better on its own. A guest post is a new article written for the publisher’s readers; a link insertion adds your backlink to an existing article that is already indexed. Quality comes from the site and the page: its readers, authority, traffic and outgoing link profile. LabsMedia places both.
How does LabsMedia check backlink quality?
Scout, our backlink bot, checks every candidate site for authority, organic search traffic in your market and spam signals on independent SEO data, once it has passed the relevance check against your brief. Every rejection keeps its reason, and every backlink is checked on the live page against what was agreed before you are invoiced.
